About Me
I was employed in the Shipping & Forwarding Industry for 40 years. For the last 10 years or so, I ran my own Freight Forwarding Business in Ipswich. I sold the Company in December 2005 to take early retirement.
For a couple of years, I spent time with my wife doing all those things that we never had time for when we were working. The novelty, however, eventually wore off and I needed something else to occupy my time.
I have had an interest in family history for sometime and when I saw a programme on the TV called Heir Hunters, I thought this is something I could do. There are similarities in research of missing beneficiaries to unclaimed estates and researching your own family history. The main difference being that you are researching somebody else’s family rather than your own.
I started in January 2009 working along side another Company as a freelance researcher and did so for 18 months. This gave me the experience and confidence to do the whole thing and I have been running my own business ‘John Macnamara Probate & Family History’ ever since.
